About Debora
Debora January has lived in Northern California since 1987, working as a Realtor for the past 17 years in the town of Mill Valley. Prior to that, she was an Advertising executive for the better part of her adult life in New York, Los Angeles, and ultimately San Francisco. With a diverse and fascinating background in television and radio, she’s a creative thinker with the ability to blend old fashioned ideas about customer service with strategic problem-solving.
After spending 6 1/2 years caring for her mother in her home, she learned a great deal about the elderly, their needs and desires. Her mother’s fatal fall in the night inspired her to begin searching for a better way to support the growing number of people moving into this chapter of their lives.
As a baby boomer herself, it occurred to her that there was a huge need for a cooler, sleeker, more productive walker that would aid this major population of individuals with the aging process and its inherent needs. With tireless energy, patience, and tenacity, Debora embarked on the pursuit of inventing a product that would rethink the standard mobility device.
Thus, “The Elky” was born, named in honor of her mother Eleanor. Approved for both Utility & Design Patents in September of 2019, Debora has since produced a 60-second video, YouTube Video, and one-page flyer introducing the product.
Debora’s honesty and integrity has served her well in her past 2 careers, and her enthusiasm for The Elky has propelled her into her new career as an Inventor.
